2020 Spring Encounter, There’s No Place Like Home

Some of the artists participating in the 2020 Spring Encounter, There’s No Place Like Home, with the Nature Artists’ Guild have generously shared their work here in a wonderful variety of style, media and subject matter.

Carol Jean Rogalski completed watercolor paintings, watercolor value studies and sketches from three different online programs, including one offered by The Metropolitan Museum of Art –

Vicki Liszewski was inspired by an online seminar and used one watercolor sketchbook just for cloud studies and some studies of birch trees –

Ann Lamoureux shared one of the paintings she has been working on this spring –

Eileen LaBarre used graphite and colored pencil to depict some items from the kitchen –

Susan Stachovic enjoyed trying different media on consecutive days.  “The dove is in graphite, the bananas are colored pencil using a ruler for making vertical lines, and the tulips are pastel, colored pencil and conte crayon” –

Marlene Vitek doesn’t usually paint in a large format, but she completed this 20 by 20 inch painting, and is starting another one –

Carol Carls painted flowers that she has or has had in her own yard –

Arlene Widrevitz added chameleons, an orchid and some nuthatches to her sketchbook and portfolio –

 

Cheryl Holz used watercolor on different papers and films and “began layering them – with photographs on film- into house shaped collages” for her “Shelter in Place Series” –

Karen Loyer used pen and ink for drawing plants in her sketchbook –

Nancy Wu listened to music while she practiced color-mixing techniques in watercolor –

Karen Johnson photographed this “beautiful beetle” on a trip to Costa Rica in February and created Hercules Beetle in watercolor in March –

Catherine Stacy has been filling her sketchbook with works in various media –

 

Margaret Navolio shared a few sketchbook items and a work in progress –

Kathi Kuchler sketched and painted in watercolor –

Marilyn Peretti created watercolor sketches from photos of a previous trip to Paris –

Marlene Vitek shared sketches of trees viewed through her glass patio doors –

Linda Skisak created oil sketches inspired by her daily walks –
