Featured Artist for the 2012 Holiday Exhibition of the Nature Artists’ Guild of The Morton Arboretum, Nancy Pienta Thyfault
Armed with a degree in Fine Art from Northwestern University, Nancy worked as a commercial artist for six years. Staying home to raise a family, she continued commercial art and illustration in her spare time.
After attending her first Morton Arboretum art class in 1998, she enjoyed it so much that she continued and finished her Botanical Illustrator’s Certificate.
Nancy still does commercial art on occasion, but the majority of her art has botanical or natural subjects. Many medias are utilized, sometimes a mix of media.
Nancy also utilizes transfer images of her artwork on “Treasure Boxes”. These are wooden boxes that become small decorative art pieces through use of the transferred art, painted surfaces, applied papers and found objects.
Her artwork is exhibited at most Nature Artist Guild of the Morton Arboretum shows and Nancy is an active member of that Guild. She also exhibits in other venues, does demonstrations and teaches private art lessons. Her art is in many private collections.
