The Nature Artists’ Guild’s Autumn 2016 Exhibition Featured Artist, Evalyn Holy

Evalyn Holy began her career as a high school Chemistry teacher. She spent her time experimenting with mixing chemicals as well as studying the intricacies of the atoms and molecules that make up matter.
After retirement, she decided to take up her childhood passion for drawing and painting. Now she spends her time mixing paints and experimenting with colors and textures. In order to develop her skills, Evalyn joined the DuPage Art League, the LaGrange Art League and the Nature Artists’ Guild, where she took numerous classes from several talented art instructors.

Evalyn began her artistic adventures with watercolors, pen and ink and pastels. In recent years she has expanded to acrylic and oils and hopes to try sculpture. She is primarily a representational artist, but has recently been experimenting with abstract concepts.

Evalyn is inspired by the natural world and its inhabitants. Being a fervent animal lover, they are often featured in her paintings.

Evalyn feels compelled to create art. She loves experimenting with new materials and techniques. It is her wish that the viewer finds something entertaining or inspiring in her work. She hopes that they can share in the pleasure and peace she has had in creating it.
