New memberships or renewals are welcome at any time, but memberships are for the calendar year, January 1st through December 31st.  Joining or renewing before the beginning of a new calendar year will ensure that members receive all the benefits of membership for the entire year.

First-time members who join the Nature Artists’ Guild after August 1 and before October 1 will be eligible for that year’s membership at half the yearly rate. The membership will be in effect until December 31st of that year.  The membership will entitle the new member to all benefits for the second half of the year, including the opportunity to exhibit in the Autumn (Holiday) exhibition at The Morton Arboretum.  After October 1, only full memberships for the following year will be accepted.

Potential members, visitors, and guests are always welcome to attend Nature Artists’ Guild programs. There is no charge for admission to The Morton Arboretum, for program attendance, or for parking for these events, which are held on select Thursday evenings from 7 until 9 pm throughout the year at the Thornhill Education Center.  Please check the Home page of this website for information on upcoming programs.

  1. Hello! I would love to become a member, but do not see a place to register online or over the phone. Is membership only done through mailing in the brochure with payment? Will I be notified via email when my payment is received if I mail the check with the brochure? Thanks! 🙂

    • Hi Cortney,
So sorry that your question was missed. Yes, at this time, joining or renewing membership is only through the mail or in person. If you send your check by mail, please include a note with a request for e-mail confirmation. You will also receive membership materials in the mail within a week or so. If you would like to attend a meeting, they are open and free to the public, and the person at the greeting station when you come in will be able to direct you to a board member who can process your membership. The next meeting will be the first Thursday of October. Thank you so much for your interest!

  2. I was referred to your site by Don’t Castro, we are both members of Naperville Art League. I am basically self- taught, but have am told by my artist associates and everyone who sees my paintings that I have a talent in art. I have painted some lovely landscapes and most recently one that looks like springtime in Colorado. I paint the ocean, also I sketch and paint animals. My mediums I use are oil and acrylic. I would like to visit the arboretum soon, and also see or ask about possibly joining as an artist.
    Thank you,
    Kathy Winemiller

    • Hi Kathy,
Please feel free to attend any of our meetings (the next one is in August, 2014) or exhibits. We look forward to meeting you and seeing your artwork. Perhaps you will be interested in our half-year membership to try us out!
      Denise

  3. Are you able to tell me if my membership is up to date?
I do not find a confirmation email in my inbox. Thanks so much for your help.I would like to participate in upcoming events.

  4. Linda,
Our upcoming Holiday Exhibition (November 6-8) would be a great opportunity for you to see some the of the styles and media that some of our members work with.

Also, if you haven’t already, check our the “Exhibition Guidelines” tab at the top of this page – the sections on “Design Art” and “Impressionistic Art” maybe be of particular interest.

You may also want to call the Education Department at the Arboretum and speak to Suzanne Wegener – the Guild’s Arboretum Liaison – about the possibility of showing her some of your work. Another possibility would be to bring a photo of some of your work to the Exhibition and talk to some of the Guild members. The Friday night reception is well attended by the artists.

As you may know, our formal meetings are open to the public – you are welcome to attend our meetings before making a decision whether to join.

Thank you for your interest in the Guild!

  5. I am interested in becoming a member but I wonder if my style is suited to this organization. I work exclusively with nature as a subject matter but in the medium of monoprint with hand drawing, my style can be very loose. Is it possible for me to bring in a few of my pieces and talk to someone? Thanks. (I am an arboretum volunteer – bike and trail patrol and am out frequently on weekends.)

  6. If I join the guild today, will my membership be effective through one year from today or is membership a calendar year?

    • Membership runs on a calendar year basis, so if you joined now, your membership would expire December 31. We are not set up to prorate membership dues.

We generally ask people to send us their dues for the new year starting in October. To receive the Winter 2010 Quarterly (which most members consider to be a major benefit of membership), I’d recommend that dues be submitted by the end of December.

Of course, you do not need to be a member to attend our meetings.
